Car Rental Terms and Conditions in Cyprus

These Terms and Conditions apply to car rental services provided by MyCar Cyprus. They explain the main booking rules, driver requirements, rental price inclusions, insurance conditions, deposit policy, fuel policy and customer responsibilities.

The signed rental agreement remains the main document for each individual rental. By submitting a booking request, confirming a reservation or signing a rental agreement, the customer agrees to follow these Terms, the rental agreement and the laws of the Republic of Cyprus.

Booking and Confirmation

A booking request submitted through the website is not automatically a confirmed rental.

After receiving a request, MyCar Cyprus checks vehicle availability, rental dates, pickup and return details, driver information and requested extras. A booking is confirmed only after MyCar Cyprus confirms it by email, phone, WhatsApp or another written communication.

We always try to provide the selected vehicle model. If the exact model is not available, MyCar Cyprus may offer a similar or higher category vehicle, subject to availability and customer confirmation.

What Is Included in the Rental Price

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the rental price includes:

• VAT;
• unlimited mileage within the Republic of Cyprus;
• CDW insurance with excess;
• standard vehicle maintenance and roadworthy condition;
• delivery and collection within Larnaca during office hours, where applicable and agreed in advance.

There are no hidden charges added without prior explanation. Any additional cost will be explained before confirmation or stated in the rental agreement.

Driver Requirements and Documents

The main driver must be at least 23 years old.

Before the rental starts, the driver must provide a valid driving licence and a passport or national ID. An international driving permit may be required if the driving licence is not in English or does not use Latin characters.

Only drivers approved by MyCar Cyprus and listed in the rental agreement are allowed to drive the vehicle. Additional drivers must be declared and approved before they drive the car.

MyCar Cyprus may refuse to provide a vehicle if driver documents are missing, invalid, inconsistent or do not meet the rental requirements.

Rental Period, Pickup and Return

The vehicle must be collected and returned at the agreed date, time and location.

Late return may result in additional charges. Any extension must be requested before the agreed return time and must be approved by MyCar Cyprus. Extensions are subject to vehicle availability and additional rental charges.

If the vehicle is not returned to the agreed location, date or time, the renter may be responsible for extra rental charges, recovery costs, loss of use and related expenses.

Payment, Deposit and Excess

The final rental price depends on the vehicle category, rental dates, rental period, pickup and return location, optional extras, insurance option and any confirmed special conditions.

A deposit or excess amount may be required depending on the vehicle category, insurance option and driver details. The deposit or excess amount is confirmed before the rental starts.

The deposit may be used to cover damage, missing fuel, traffic fines, loss of keys, late return, cleaning, breach of rental terms or other costs caused during the rental period. If a deposit is held by card pre-authorisation, release times may depend on the bank or card provider and are not controlled by MyCar Cyprus.

Insurance and CDW with Excess

The rental price includes Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with excess, unless otherwise confirmed in writing.

CDW with excess limits the renter’s financial responsibility for damage to the rented vehicle, provided that the renter follows the rental agreement, traffic laws and insurance conditions.

The renter remains responsible for the applicable excess amount and for any damage, loss or cost not covered by insurance. Additional insurance or excess reduction options may be available and must be confirmed before the rental starts.

Damage and Costs Not Covered by Standard Insurance

Standard insurance and CDW do not normally cover every type of damage or loss. The renter may remain fully responsible for, including but not limited to:

• damage to tyres, wheels, windscreen, windows, mirrors, roof, underside, lights or interior;
• damage caused by off-road driving, unpaved roads, loose surface roads or unsuitable routes;
• damage caused by negligence, misuse or violation of the rental agreement;
• damage caused while driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or prohibited substances;
• damage caused by an unauthorised driver;
• loss of keys, vehicle documents, number plates or vehicle equipment;
• towing, recovery or transportation costs caused by renter fault;
• smoking, stains, burns, excessive dirt, sand, mud or unusual contamination;
• traffic fines, parking tickets, tolls, penalties and related administrative costs;
• personal belongings left in or taken from the vehicle.

The renter must take reasonable care of the vehicle and return it in the same general condition as received, except for normal wear and tear.

Accidents, Damage, Theft and Breakdown

In case of accident, damage, theft, loss or breakdown, the renter must contact MyCar Cyprus immediately and follow the instructions provided.

A police report may be required. Insurance coverage may be refused or limited if the accident, damage or theft is not properly reported.

The renter must not admit liability, accept blame or make private arrangements with third parties without approval from MyCar Cyprus.

Fuel Policy

The fuel level is recorded at the start of the rental. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, the renter may be charged for the missing fuel and any applicable refuelling service cost. Wrong fuel, fuel contamination or damage caused by incorrect refuelling is the renter’s responsibility.

Use of the Vehicle

The vehicle may be used only on public roads and in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Cyprus.

The vehicle must not be used for racing, competitions, speed testing, driving lessons, towing, carrying passengers or goods for hire or reward, illegal purposes, or by any person not approved in the rental agreement.

The vehicle must not be used outside permitted areas or in any way that may invalidate insurance coverage.

Driving in Cyprus and Northern Cyprus

The rented vehicle may be used within the Republic of Cyprus on public roads and in accordance with the rental agreement.

Travel to Northern Cyprus is not prohibited by MyCar Cyprus, but insurance coverage does not apply there. If the vehicle is driven to Northern Cyprus, the renter accepts full responsibility for any damage, loss, theft, recovery, towing, legal costs, accident-related costs or other expenses. MyCar Cyprus may not be able to provide assistance or replacement vehicle support in Northern Cyprus.

Fines and Traffic Violations

The renter is responsible for all fines, penalties, parking tickets, traffic violations, speeding offences, tolls and related administrative costs incurred during the rental period.

MyCar Cyprus may provide renter details to the relevant authorities if required by law.

Optional Extras, Changes and Cancellation

Optional extras such as child seats, additional drivers, out-of-hours service, special delivery, additional insurance or other services may be available on request and are subject to availability.

If you need to cancel or change a booking request, please contact MyCar Cyprus as early as possible. If a booking has already been confirmed, a deposit has been paid or special conditions have been agreed, the applicable cancellation or change conditions will be confirmed separately.

Failure to provide valid documents, failure to meet driver requirements or failure to arrive at the agreed time may result in refusal of rental or additional charges.

Personal Data

MyCar Cyprus collects and processes personal data required for booking, rental management, driver verification, customer communication, payment, legal compliance, insurance procedures and handling of fines or incidents.

Personal data is handled in accordance with applicable privacy rules and the Privacy Policy available on this website.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions and any rental agreement are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus.

Any disputes shall be handled under the applicable jurisdiction of the Republic of Cyprus, unless otherwise required by law.
